INVASION CHAMPIONS!

INVASION 15 BLACK won INVASION's first National Championship with an undefeated run in Reno, NV. 15 BLACK, playing in the 15 OPEN division, avenged a loss from last year's 14 OPEN final by sweeping an outstanding TAV team in this years semifinal. They went on to beat a tall and talented Northern Lights squad in the final in 2 sets.

INVASION 16 BLACK followed up the undefeated 15 BLACK victory with one of their own in the 16 American division. Coaches Don Harris and Marvin Forbes saw steady progress from these girls throughout the season and the pair guided 16 BLACK to a straight set victory over cross-state rival St. Louis CYC.

SHOW ME WEEK #2

BIG NEWS! INVASION 15 BLACK won the 15 OPEN division of the Show Me qualifier. They have now taken 2 firsts and a second in OPEN qualifiers this season! Awesome job this year! Diana's 16 BLUE team finished the regular season at the 2010 Show Me Qualifier also. The girls finished the weekend with a 4-4 record in the 16 Club Division and 17th place out of 56 teams. GREAT SEASON GIRLS AND CONGRATULATIONS! Friday of Show Me Whitney's 17 BLACK team went 4-2, taking 2nd in their pool. Saturday, they fought hard but came up short, losing 3 matches – each by only 2 points and finishing the day 4-6.  Sunday, the girls went undefeated to win the bronze bracket, finishing 22nd. The girls played well all weekend, finishing with some very impressive play.

 

SHOW-ME WEEK 1
12 WHITE won 2nd place in the 12/13 Select Silver division at the ShowMe Qualifier. The girls played their hearts out on the final day to end the season on a great note with their 5th silver medal of the season. It was the girls first time at a Qualifier and their first time playing with standard balls on a 7’4” net. Great season 12 WHITE! 11 BLACK competed in their first National Qualifier this weekend also. The girls competed in the 12 Club division and won two matches! The girls kept the weekend intense and exciting by taking four other teams to three set matches during the first two rounds. 11 BLACK finished the weekend with an 8-12 set record. Congratulations, girls, on an impressive showing at your first qualifier! C.J.'s 15 BLUE went 3-4 in match play for the weekend in the club division of Show Me, while Diana's 15 WHITE team finished the weekend with a match record of 4-3 and an overall set record of 10-7.

4/17 - 4/18 - Sunday, April 18, 2010

12 WHITE had a great weekend at 12 Silver Regionals. They went 7 and 1 in pool play and ended up tied for 5th in the silver bracket. 11 BLACK finished 2nd in the Bronze Division at 12 Silver Regionals this weekend.

 

APRIL 10-11 - Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Diana's 15's and 16's played this past weekend in the 2010 Junior Region Bid Tournament.  The 15's finished the weekend 3-4 (match record) and took 2nd place and the silver medal in the Silver Division. 15 WHITE took 22nd place out of 47 teams.  The 16's finished the weekend 5-2 (match record) and also took 2nd place and the silver medal in the Silver Division. 16 BLUE took 18th place out of 39 teams. 17 BLACK had a good bid tournament. They made the gold playoffs before losing in the quarter finals, tying for 5th. 15 BLACK went to Dallas for the Lone Star qualifier and took on the best of Texas. They eventually took home the siver medal, losing only in the finals of 15 OPEN. 

 

APRIL 3-4 - Monday, April 05, 2010

11 BLACK took 2nd in the Spring Fling 12S tournament in Topeka. 13 BLACK won their pool in a 14 Gold tournament in Topeka and finished 2nd overall. Diana's 15 WHITE team played in a 15G tournament this past Saturday at BVAC. Competition was stiff but the girls played as a team and went 12-0 for the day, taking 1st place and bringing home the Gold. Great job girls. 16 BLACK went all the way to Baltimore for the NEQ and won the Silver Division with an overall match record of 7-2. 

 

MARCH 27-28 - Sunday, March 28, 2010

The 11 BLACK team played in the BVAC 13S Tournament Sunday at FLC and took 3rd Place! The girls played very well and came close to making it to the finals but were knocked out by the team who ended up winning it all. INVASION 15 BLACK won the 18 OPEN division of the Springfield Classic Saturday. 12 WHITE was also in Springfield this weekend. They finished 2nd, pushing the winners to a third game in the finals. Invasion 12 WHITE has consistently competed with and beaten most 12-1 teams they have played this year.

 

MARCH 19-21 - Monday, March 22, 2010

15 BLACK went to Topeka and took first place in a 17's tourney! 15 BLUE went 7-3 with a 2nd place finish at the Riverside Rumble! MEQ results: 13 BLACK 3-5 in matches and 10-10 in games, 13 BLUE 2-5 and 5-10, 14 BLACK 3-4 and 7-9, 14 BLUE 4-4 and 8-10, 16 BLACK 5-3 and 10-8, 16 BLUE 2-4 and 7-9, 16 WHITE 1-6 and 2-12. 

 

GOLD HEART - Monday, March 15, 2010

Diana's 16 BLUE team played in the 2010 Gold Heart Challenge Cup this past weekend. Their overall record for the weekend was 19 wins and 4 losses. They finished 13th overall out of 28 teams.  Diana's 15 WHITE team played in the 2010 Gold Heart Challenge Cup also this past weekend.  Their overall record for the weekend was 3 wins, 3 splits, and 4 losses.  They played in the bronze division on Sunday and finished overall 11th out of 32 teams. Great job girls. Great job Diana! 

 

COLORADO CROSSROADS - Tuesday, March 09, 2010

 4 INVASION teams were in Denver 3/6-3/8. 17 BLACK went 6-0 on day 1, getting 1st place in their pool. On day 2, they went 2-1, getting 2nd place in their pool. They lost the dreaded  "challenge match" Sunday night, taking them into the silver playoffs. Monday was pretty rough...they lost in their first match, giving them a final finish of 21 out of 128 teams.

3 Teams headed to Denver 2/27-3/1 for the Crossroads National Qualifier. Bridget's 12 BLACK had a good first day and ended up in the Silver bracket. This was the first National Qualifier for most of the girls and it ended up being a great learning and team building experience. The competition gave them a good idea of what they now have to work on. Kally's 13 BLACK went to Denver and was undefeated in their first pool and went 2-1 in their second pool. They ended up with an amazing 9th place finish overall! 15 WHITE was also in action. Diana led her team to a 21st place finish out of 140 teams in 15 Club. They were 3-0 the first day and 2-1 the second before losing a challenge match to put them in the Silver bracket. All 3 teams made INVASION proud last weekend!

 

MARCH 6-7 - Tuesday, March 09, 2010
Kelly's 12 WHITE was undefeated until the final where they fought hard and lost two very close games to Southern Elite resulting in 10-2 record and 2nd place. 15 BLUE took first in the Gold Filled Fieldhouse on Saturday with a 13-2 record. CJ's girls dominated!
 

NEW RESULTS - Sunday, February 28, 2010

The 11-Black team played in the Capital City Clash 12 Open tournament yesterday in Jeff City and took 3rd place. Kelly and Kerri took our 12 WHITE team to the FLC on Sunday and won their pool before finishing tied for 3rd. Lauri Wilson's 17 BLUE squad also went to the FLC this weekend and came home winners17 BLACK played in a 17's Open Tournament Sunday, went undefeated in matches for the day and got 1st place. 18 BLACK traveled to Springfield and went undefeated to win the gold medal! 16 WHITE went undefeated in pool play before bowing out in the semi's.

 

RESULTS! - Saturday, February 20, 2010

Amy Benne took her 11 BLACK squad to the KNVBC Volleyball Fling today in Silver Lakes, KS.and came back with a perfect record and their first ever tournament championship! 15 Blue took 1st place in the Southside Swarm Valentine's Day Blast tournament. They went undefeated 12-0 for the day! Whitney's 17 BLACK team won their 17 Gold Tourney Sunday at BVAC. They won their pool and went 11-1 for the day, winning the finals in 2. Danny took the 18 BLACK team to Independence Saturday and won another tournament! They went 11-2 on the day and did it with only 6 players! Ryan Gill took the 14 BLUE girls to the FLC on Saturday and had a successful day going 11-3 and finishing in 2nd place.

 

PRESIDENTS DAY WEEKEND - Wednesday, February 17, 2010

CJ took her 15 BLUE team to St. Louis this weekend and came home with a 2nd place finish in a 15 team event. They only lost to 1 team the whole 2 day tournament. RESULTS FROM OMAHA: INVASION 15 BLACK took home top honors in the 15 OPEN division in Omaha. They beat Mizuno Northern Lights 15-1 to claim the championship. Other club finishes: 11 BLACK 10th in 12 Club; 13 BLACK 18th and 13 BLUE 23rd in 13 Club; 14 BLACK 15th and 14 BLUE 28th in 14 Club; 15 WHITE 5th in 15 Club; 16 BLUE 19th in 16 Club; 16 BLACK 13th in 16 Open; 17 BLACK 20th and 17 BLUE 43rd in 17 Club; 18 BLACK 30th in 18 Club.

 

MORE WEEKEND RESULTS - Sunday, February 07, 2010

Kally took her 13 BLACK girls to the FLC Saturday and won their first tournament of the year. They were an impressive 15-2 in sets played. 15 BLACK capped off an undefeated Powerleague and is now headed to Reno, NV for Nationals. Moments of brilliance were on display for 12 WHITE as they took second in KCK. CJ took her 15 BLUE squad to the FLC for a 17 Silver tournament and came home winners on Sunday! 15 WHITE started the weekend Saturday by playing in Powerleague II and finished the day with 6 wins and 5 losses and an overall ranking in Powerleague II of 4th place.The 16 BLUE team traveled to Joplin and finished the day with 3 wins and 9 losses but finished Powerleague I in 10th place as the only 16-2 team in Powerleague I. Great job girls. 18 BLACK took 1st out of 15 teams. They ended up going 11-4 on the day. The girls felt great to win their first tournament of the season! 

 

WEEKEND RESULTS - Sunday, January 31, 2010

For the second weekend in a row Marnie's 16 WHITE squad took first in their pool. This time they closed out their day with a 1st PLACE finish at the FLC on Saturday. Diana's 16 BLUE team went to the FLC on Sunday to play in a 16G tournament. They finished 1st in their pool with a record of 8-0 and then took 1st PLACE overall with a total combined record for the day of 12 wins and 1 loss.

 

TOURNAMENT RESULTS - Sunday, January 24, 2010

Kelly and Kerri took the 12 WHITE team to a 2nd place finish Saturday. The girls were 8-1 to take first in their pool before losing in the finals. Way to go girls - YOU ROCK! Kally's 13 BLACK also finished first in their pool before taking 3rd place overall in Lee's Summit. Diana took her 15 WHITE squad to Silver Lake, KS on Sunday and had a good day. They went 8-4 in pool play before finishing 2nd in a 17 silver tournament. 15 BLACK took on the best Springfield, MO had to offer and came away with a 3rd place finish Saturday in an 18 open tournament. Our 15 BLUE girls went to the KNVBC Winter Blast and came home with a 1st place finish Sunday going 10-4 in games! Marnie took the 16 WHITE team to the Parkville PowWow and went undefeated in pool play before falling just short in the finals.   

 

WEEKEND RESULTS - Sunday, January 17, 2010

Sean Barrett's 11BLUE had a successful first tournament taking first in their pool and 2nd place overall! 15 BLACK finished with a 5-0 record in their first Powerleague 1 playing date Sat. 1/16. CJ's 15 BLUE went 7-2 in games and left Powerleague 2 with a 3-1 match record. Diana's 15 WHITE also played in Powerleague 2 and went 2-2 in match play. Don and Marvin took their 16 BLACK to a 4-1 record in their first Powerleague 1 playing date. Diana's 16 BLUE had a rough day losing many very close games in the tough 16's Powerleague 1.

INVASION 14 BLACK won their pool and qualified for Powerleague on Sat. 1/9. Also on 1/9, Kally's 13 BLACK qualified.

INVASION 16 WHITE went 8-5 on Saturday 1/9 to take 3rd place at the Blue Devil Challenge in KCK.

INVASION 16 BLACK took 2nd overall on Sat.1/2 in their Power League qualifying tournament. Also on Sat. Diana's 16 BLUE qualified by taking 5th. On Sun.1/3 INVASION 15 BLACK qualified 2nd.

Longtime Invasion player JESSICA KOPP received the Evelyn Gates award for the 2008 high school season. This award factors in academic success and sportsmanship to go along with volleyball. It is an outstanding achievement for Jess and Invasion is proud to have been her home the last 4 years. Jess will continue her volleyball career at Washburn University next fall. Invasion players BROOKE FAY and CAITLYN DONAHUE were also in the final four candidates. Brooke will attend Pittsburg State and Caitlyn will go to Kansas State.
